Fleas and other parasites can be an issue but thankfully they are preventable. You can prevent your own pet from obtaining parasites by ensuring your pet is on monthly treatment. Always discuss with your vet which medications are best for your pet.

For extra peace of mind, speak to your pet sitter about their home environment and if their own animals (if any) are on monthly treatment for parasites. Ask the pet sitter if they have had any issues with parasites, especially if they have carpet or overgrown outdoor areas.
